Exodus 17:10-13
Joshua did as Moses had instructed him and fought against the Amalekites, while Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. As long as Moses held up his hands, Israel prevailed; but when he lowered them, Amalek prevailed. When Moses’ hands grew heavy, they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. Then Aaron and Hur held his hands up, one on each side, so that his hands remained steady until the sun went down.
Berean Bible

“Beth and I served as missionaries in Mexico with Paul and Hope, and we came to love them there. Since leaving the field, we have been pastoring a Hispanic fellowship in northern Indiana, and it has been our privilege to be the recipients of Hope's gracious hospitality and be refreshed many times in the last several years. Our most recent visit was when Hur House was just open. We were once again encouraged and refreshed in body and soul. We highly recommend them to you. ” -Pete and Beth Gross

Welcome From
Paul & Hope Cheshier

Paul and Hope have been married for 40-plus years, all of which have been spent as pastor and/or missionary and wife. They have served together in South Carolina, Iowa, Alabama, Papua New Guinea, and Mexico in various roles. They understand the need for time away from the hectic schedule of the ministry profession or just a place to stay as you travel. They are no strangers to the joys, struggles, and challenges of this ministry choice. Paul and Hope are passionate about helping those in ministry to be encouraged, heard, and “loved on” as they fulfill the great commission!

Statements of Faith
The Bible is God’s unique revelation to people. Every word in it is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God, and it is the supreme and final authority on all matters upon which it teaches. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Hebrew 4:12)
There is only one God, Creator of heaven and earth, who exists eternally as three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each fully God, yet each personally distinct from the other. (Genesis 1:1; Exodus 3:14; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; John 1:1-5; Mathew 3:13-17)
All people are created in God’s image and matter deeply to Him. Central to the message of the Bible is that God loves people and invites them to live in communion with Him and in community with each other. (Acts 2:42-47; Hebrews 10:19-25)
Apart from Jesus Christ, all people are spiritually lost, and because of sin, they deserve the judgment of God. However, God gives salvation and eternal life to anyone who trusts in Jesus Christ and in His sacrifice on his or her behalf. Salvation cannot be earned through personal goodness or human effort; it is a gift that must be received by humble repentance and faith in Christ and His finished work on the cross. (Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23; Romans 5:8; Romans 10:9; Romans 10:13; John 3:16-17)
Jesus Christ, second person of the Trinity, was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless human life, willingly took upon Himself all of our sins, died and rose again bodily, and is at the right hand of the Father as our advocate and mediator. Someday, He will return to consummate history and to fulfill the eternal plan of God. (Matthew 1:18-25; John 20; 1 John 2:1-2; 1 Corinthians 15:50-58)
The Holy Spirit, third person of the Trinity, convicts the world of sin and draws people to Christ. He also indwells all believers. He is available to empower them to lead Christ-like lives and gives them spiritual gifts with which to serve the Church and reach out to a lost and needy world. (John 16:5-16; Luke 24:45-49; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12; 1 Corinthians 13; Matthew 28:18-20)
Death seals the eternal destiny of each person. At the final judgment, unbelievers will be separated from God into eternal condemnation. Believers will be received into God’s eternal loving presence and rewarded for their faithfulness to Him in this life. (Luke 16:19-31; Matthew 25:31-46; 2 Corinthians 5:1-10)
All believers are members of the body of Christ, the one true Church. Spiritual unity is to be expressed among Christians by acceptance and love of one another across ethnic, cultural, socio-economic, national, generational, gender, and denominational lines. (Ephesians 4:1-6; John 17:20-23; Acts 15:1-35)
Hur House seeks to provide a place for missionaries, pastors, and their families to find rest, renewal, restoration, and encouragement. Our prayer is for each person who visits to be refreshed--gaining new hope, strength, and perspective to return to their places of service with renewed vigor and encouragement. We desire to be listening ears and cheerleaders for those in ministry, to “hold up the hands” of those who serve others in ministry for Christ. (Exodus 17:10-13; Galatians 2:20; Galatians 6:2, 9, 10; 1 Thessalonians 5:11; Philippians 1:3-11; 3 John 5-8)
